Flooding in Cache County expected to cost up to $2 million

Logan • Flooding last week in Cache County could cost the county up to $2 million in repairs.

The Herald Journal reports that heavy rains and ice-melting temperatures last week caused flooding to damage about 30 to 35 miles of Cache County's paved roads.

County Development Services Director Josh Runhaar told the county council on Tuesday that his department is still analyzing the extent of the damage.

He also warned that those costs could increase as the season continues.

Runhaar says currently, the county does not qualify to be declared disaster by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

This could be declared if the state as a whole records $3.9 million in damage, or if the county alone reaches $3 million in damage.
